Eleven months after the national Association of Trial Lawyers of America tried to conceal from the public who they really are by changing their name, the Alabama Association of Trial Lawyers has followed suit, renaming itself the Alabama Association for Justice.
But the damage has already been done.
Removing the words "trial" and "lawyer" from their name won't erase the harm they've done to Alabama.
- In a survey of legal fairness, Alabama ranked 47th for the third year in a row.
- The lawsuit system costs Alabamians over $4 billion each year.*
*As measured by Towers Perrin Tillinghast's study of the total cost of the lawsuit system.
One only has to open up the newspaper to see stories of the damage that trial lawyers are doing to Alabama.
The plaintiffs' trial lawyers' campaign to hide the truth of who they are from the American public by changing their name is their attempt to continue in their same old ways in Alabama unhindered.
If they want to be true advocates of justice for Alabamians, they'll end the injustice of frivolous lawsuits.
