In March of 1995 plaintiffs' trial lawyers in California discarded the "trial lawyer" moniker when they changed their name from the California Trial Lawyers Association to the Consumer Attorneys of California. In doing so, they pre-dated the national Association of Trial Lawyers of America's attempt to conceal from the public who they really are by changing their name.
But their damage to California continued unabated.
- In a survey of legal fairness, California ranked 44th.
- The lawsuit system costs Californians almost $32 billion each year.*
*As measured by Towers Perrin Tillinghast's study of the total cost of the lawsuit system.
One only has to open up the newspaper to see stories of the damage that plaintiffs' trial lawyers are continuing to do to California.
California's experience shows that the plaintiffs' trial lawyers' campaign to hide the truth of who they are from the American public by changing their name doesn't mean there will be a change in their same old ways.
If they want to be true advocates of justice for Californians, they'll end the injustice of frivolous lawsuits.
