Plaintiffs' trial lawyers in Hawaii discarded the "trial lawyer" moniker back in 1995 when they changed their name from the Hawaii Trial Lawyers Association to the Consumer Lawyers of Hawaii. In doing so, they pre-dated the national Association of Trial Lawyers of America's attempt to conceal from the public who they really are by changing their name.
But their damage to Hawaii continued unabated.
- In a survey of legal fairness, Hawaii ranked 45th.
- The lawsuit system costs Hawaiians more than $1.1 billion each year.*
*As measured by Towers Perrin Tillinghast's study of the total cost of the lawsuit system.
Hawaii's experience shows that the plaintiffs' trial lawyers' campaign to hide the truth of who they are from the American public by changing their name doesn't mean there will be a change in their same old ways.
If they want to be true advocates of justice for Hawaiians, they'll end the injustice of frivolous lawsuits.
