Eleven months after the national Association of Trial Lawyers of America tried to conceal from the public who they really are by changing their name, the Michigan Trial Lawyers Association has decided to follow suit and rename itself the Michigan Association for Justice.
But the damage has already been done.
Removing the words "trial" and "lawyer" from their name won't erase the harm they've done to Michigan.
- In a survey of legal fairness, Michigan ranked 33rd in the nation.
- The lawsuit system costs Michiganders over $9 billion each year.*
*As measured by Towers Perrin Tillinghast's study of the total cost of the lawsuit system.
One only has to open up the newspaper to see stories of the damage that trial lawyers are doing to Michigan.
The plaintiffs' trial lawyers' campaign to hide the truth of who they are from the American public by changing their name is their attempt to continue in their same old ways in Michigan unhindered.
If they want to be true advocates of justice for Michiganders, they'll end the injustice of frivolous lawsuits.
