Two years after the national Association of Trial Lawyers of America tried to conceal from the public who they really are by changing their name, the South Carolina Trial Lawyers Association has decided to follow suit and rename itself the South Carolina Association for Justice.
But the damage has already been done.
Removing the words "trial" and "lawyer" from their name won't stop them from doing harm to South Carolina.
- In a survey of legal fairness, South Carolina dropped from 37th in 2007 to 43rd in 2008.
- The lawsuit system costs South Carolinians nearly $4 billion each year.*

One only has to open up the newspaper to see stories of the damage that trial lawyers are doing to South Carolina.
The plaintiffs' trial lawyers' campaign to hide the truth of who they are from the American public by changing their name is their attempt to continue in their same old ways in South Carolina unhindered.
If they want to be true advocates of justice for South Carolinians, they'll end the injustice of frivolous lawsuits.
